East Amherst at a Glance
East Amherst covers the northeast corner of the Town of Amherst, along the Clarence town line and Transit Road. The Town of Amherst's historic survey notes that the area began as Transit Station, at the eastern end of the old Canandaigua & Niagara Falls Railroad line. Today it is mostly residential, with day-to-day shopping and dining along Transit Road.

The Williamsville Central School District is headquartered in East Amherst at 105 Casey Rd. The district has six elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools, and covers about 40 square miles in parts of Amherst, Clarence and Cheektowaga. Schools with East Amherst addresses:

- The Dodge Road corridor: Dodge Road forms the southern edge of Ransom Oaks and is home to Dodge Elementary. Streets on both sides mix established subdivisions with newer homes.

- Spaulding Green (next door in Clarence, 14032): a master-planned community with lakes, trails and a preserve, served by Clarence Central schools.

- Paradise Park, 700 Paradise Rd (Town of Amherst): playground, shelter, tennis and pickleball courts, soccer and softball fields, and basketball. It is home to the Amherst Soccer Association.
- Amherst Paw Park, 500 Smith Rd, just east of New Road: a fenced off-leash dog area.
- Nearby: the Ellicott Creek Trailway, Amherst State Park and Glen Park in Williamsville, and the Peanut Line and Waterford trails in Clarence Center.
